A clean start for Jayden

Jayden faced several challenges on his journey towards employment. Navigating difficulties with literacy and numeracy, he experienced significant anxiety and required extra support in the workplace. 

At the start, Jayden was unsure of his vocational goals due to his learning disorder and mood changes. However, with customised support and guidance, he overcame these barriers. 

Through his support coordinator, Jayden connected with uLaunch Rockhampton, seeking a fresh start with a provider that could better meet his needs. He was introduced to the Disability Employment Support team and Dylan, a uLaunch Employment Consultant Trainee from our Employment Consultant Traineeship. 

Dylan and Jayden quickly developed a positive working relationship and with support from the team, they worked to update his resume and practiced mock interviews to prepare him for employment. 

This dedicated support helped Jayden to gain confidence and clarity in his goals and aspirations and led to Jayden securing a position at Whights Commercial Cleaning.  

From the outset, uLaunch ensured Jayden got to work safely and on-time each day and provided feedback to the employer on how they can offer additional support. 

As Jayden settled into his new role, Dylan and the team kept a close eye on his progress, offering advice ensuring he thrived in his duties. 

At Whights Commercial Cleaning, Jayden excels in making workspaces pristine with his attention to detail, dedication and positive attitude. Jayden is proud to have found employment and with continued support and trust in Dylan and the Disability Employment Support team, he is on a pathway to long-term employment. 

Jayden’s story is a shining example of how Disability Employment Services can effectively achieve positive outcomes for participants. Through individual capacity building, participants can make meaningful contributions to the community through employment.
