Last week, Sarah Hanson, our National NDIS Manager at uLaunch, took the stage at the Community Development Program (CDP) Panel in Adelaide. She showcased the remarkable strides our organisation is making in collaboration with CDP provider and AKG partner, Rise Ventures.
With 17 years of expertise in human services and government relations, Sarah is a pivotal leader within the AKG group, and her insights are driving significant positive change in remote communities.
At the panel discussion, Sarah shared the exciting developments of our partnership with Rise Ventures and their micro-enterprise initiatives.
Two notable examples are the Bakery and Men’s Shed in Kowanyama. These innovative ventures not only provide employment opportunities but also delivers community-focused activities that teach valuable cooking skills and boost confidence.
The sustainable partnership approach to employment goes beyond mere job creation, fostering community networks and promoting financial independence for NDIS and CDP participants.
Sarah’s presentation highlighted how uLaunch’s collaboration with RISE Ventures and CDP providers has made a tangible impact. When uLaunch first entered these remote areas, many participants were unskilled and seeking employment. Through targeted training programs offered by RISE Ventures in areas such as First Aid and Manual Handling, local community members acquired the necessary certifications and were successfully employed within uLaunch as support workers supporting participants in NDIS.
This approach has had a profound ripple effect, positively influencing both individuals and the broader community. It is a testament to the power of effective partnerships and innovative approaches to community development. At uLaunch, we are committed to driving social impact and creating inclusive environments where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
