The uLaunch Employment Consultant Traineeship Program concluded November 8 with a graduation celebration, honouring the achievements of the participants who completed the program and gained a Certificate IV in Employment Services.
On graduation day, the trainees celebrated with family, friends, and colleagues as Board Member Professor Paul Harpur OAM delivered an inspiring note, encouraging them to embrace their disabilities, take pride in their achievements, and confidently pursue their next career journey.
The Journey to Success
Throughout the twelve-month journey, the program incorporated a multifaceted approach, combining studies, mentoring, and peer support to ensure a holistic learning experience. It equipped the trainees with not only technical skills but also the confidence to make meaningful contributions within their roles. Each trainee played a vital role in assisting uLaunch participants by placing them into employment and offering continued support throughout their placements.
The program embodies uLaunch’s commitment to building a workforce with lived experience. The approach focuses on empowering people with disabilities through tailored career development sessions, creating clear career pathways, and supporting them in building long-term opportunities for growth and success. By developing practical skills alongside a nationally recognised qualification, the trainees have gained a strong foundation for career growth.
To provide access to best-practice resources, tools and training, uLaunch partnered with Worklinks, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with industry expert trainers to deliver the program. Their focus is on ensuring participants successfully complete the program while gaining valuable, transferrable skills that will enhance their career prospects.
While gaining expertise in employment services, the trainees also discovered new professional interests in areas like marketing, IT, and financial services. The diversity of the program allowed the trainees to expand their professional potential and learn how they can adapt their new skills into different career paths.
The Impact
Overall, each trainee showed great characteristics of what it takes to be an Employment Consultant. At the end of the program, it was highlighted that one trainee would transition into a full-time role within uLaunch. Dylan Robinson, trainee in Rockhampton QLD, demonstrated core values of what it is to be a uLaunch employee, showed empathy and compassion throughout his studies and on-the-job training, and was offered the Employment Consultant position. Dylan’s achievement is a testament to the program’s success and how valuable its impact truly is.
The team at uLaunch wish Dylan all the best in his new role and to his fellow peers on the program as they launch into an exciting new journey in their careers. Congratulations to everyone who participated, you should be proud of your accomplishments.
